Relaxers and Box Braids (african-american women hair)?

ok this friday with be the 5th week from my last relaxer. i am getting box braids on june 13th(2 weeks from now) but i dont want to get another relaxer this week because i dont want my relaxers too close together which will cause my hair to thin out, because they say wait 2 weeks after a relaxer to get braids...so what should i do?..just get the relaxer anyway or do get one after i take my box braids out which is going to be when i go back to school...

oh and i remember earlier this year i waited 9 weeks to get my relaxer and my hair REALLY broke off....

get the relaxer. then, use strengthening products like profective, motions, organic root stimulator, etc (these are just the brands i love and trust). if you dont want to relax and go ahead and do the braids - go ahead. just know that when you take out the braids, give your hair 5 days to recover (i know its supposed to 14 days for hair to recover from braids, but trust - i KNOW you dont want to be handling with all that new growth). so, if i was in your situation, i would relax.Relaxers and Box Braids (african-american women hair)?
get the braids and get the relaxer afterwards, just do not do it right after you take your braids out. Wait at least a week after you take your braids out.

Your hair did not break off because you waited too long to get a relaxer (if that's what you're suggestion). That's a myth that alot of people believe because they are not able to care for two different textures of hair at one time, so the hair breaks off at the point that the different textures meet; however since you won't be caring for the different textures for that long it doesn't matter.
I would suggest u wait a week or 2. In the meantime, use products from the Profectiv line. They have a conditioning mask that u use everyday until your next relaxer. It will keep your hair from breaking off during %26amp; after relaxing
