Hair relaxer.?

I had my hair relaxed. It wasn't a japanese relaxer and i know nothing about hair so. Anyways, it didn't really work? I waited like 7 hours until the whole process was done, and like four days later, when i washed it. Nothing. It looks exactly the same %26amp; as if nothing changed. What should i do? I'm not gunna go back to her because she's like my moms friend. But at the same time, it was a waste of time? I'll just have it redone whenever i can. I just want to know, when do i redo it? What do i redo it with? Should it be japanese this time? I need the whole low down.Hair relaxer.?
If she was a hairdresser. I would go back to her if not then no. There is alot of different type of relaxers. Meaning the chemicals they use. You just need a stronger one and it's really good to know what she used on you cause they can have a chemical reaction and fry your hair. So find that out first of all and go from there. Japanese just means the technique they use it sometimes just means over priced! It's the same kind everyone else does just a different technique. When you go get it done again make sure they do a strand test to know if they can do your hair. That is how they will tell if you hair is ready or not. Bother them about so they do. You should only need a relaxer about every 4-6 weeks for a retouch so your regrowth is straight like the rest of your hair.Hair relaxer.?
Go to walmart pick up a Ultra -Sheen supreme relaxer.Regular strength .When you apply it put it on the ends first and work your way up towards the scalp.I think that the lady probably put a no mix relaxer on your hair .I find that the no mix relaxers don't get the hair bone straight it just gets some of the wave out.I think you want it straight.Remember to apply protective petroleum jelly around the hair line and ears, and wear the gloves that come in the kit.rinse the relaxer out about 3 times really well.I believe we have solved your problem.Do me a favor and let me know how it turns out if you take this advice.

Hair relaxer? Salon treatment?

I want to get my hair straightened/relaxed but want to find the best way to do it w/o frying my hair. I got a haircut and now have neck length hair (layered, kind of like a layered bob) and its naturally very thin and curly. Ive used blowdryers, flat irons, and different products but it doesnt stay straight long at all. Im thinking of trying one of those salon treatments but want to know if they work or if theyre a load of crap. Does anyone know anything about this including prices and if it works or not?

Thanks.Hair relaxer? Salon treatment?
I personally use the CHI hair straightening system at my salon. It is costly, depending on hair length. You can expect to pay anywhere from $250.00 on up. It is a time consuming project for both the client and the stylist. I personally have my hair chemically straightened. It does work. However, that doesn't mean your hair will require no work at all, just not AS much work. I would recommend you still flat iron the hair but it will last all day..through humidity, sweat and all. (I live in FL, so I know first hand.) The chemical process is considered ';permanent'; but you will still need to have regular touch ups at your regrowth, like you would a hair color retouch. These touch ups can cost around $150.00 and up...and they should be done approximately every 3-4 months.

i am white. and i am jot new to relaxer but i need advice.

Okay i have a few questions i will only give you full about of points if you anwer all of them.

I was told a brazilian kertain treatment can give you cancer, is there a kind that comes without the chemical that doesnt?

My hair is getting healthy my stylist says. Can i get a relaxer without it ruining my hair and making my hair fall out.

What is the best relaxer that won't damage my hair?

    Btw i am white.

i am not being mean against black people but our hair is different.

lol :)Hair Relaxer . please answer.?
Make sure the keratin treatment you get is formaldehyde free...that's the cancer causing chemical in some of them. I wouldn't suggest doing a relaxer yourself, especially since your hair texture isn't what relaxers were made for. You'll be much safer going to a salon. Your hair won't necessarily fall out but the chemicals in relaxers are pretty potent stuff and you don't want to mess around with it.Hair Relaxer . please answer.?
i dont really think it can make u get cancer i dont think a relaxer can ruin ur hair but ask ur stylist but as long as you use conditioner i think it would be fine

    Hair relaxer question?

I'm half african and half asian so my hair type is really weird, but it's more afro than anything else. My mom uses Dark %26amp; Lovely hair relaxer on my hair, but when she does it always turns out that the top of my head %26amp; fringe is always straight and soft, and then as you get to the bottom it gets bigger and rougher. I'm pretty sure she evenly distributes the relaxer but why is it coming out like this? Does anyone have any tips about relaxing hair with this product?Hair relaxer question?
Sounds like your hair is over processed. Relaxer should only be combed thru virgin hair. Previously relaxed hair should only be touched up at the roots.

Go see a professional to correct this problem as your hair may need to be cut to prevent further damage. As with any chemical process keep the hair moisturized.

    Good luck!

PS at age 13 you should be ok using the regular product. It could also be that the strength she's using is too strong for your hair.

    Hair relaxer help??????

I'm white and have really frizzy wavy hair and I want to have pin straight hair so I don't have to straighten it everyday. Whats a good off the shelf hair relaxer for my hair? I cant go to a salon because I really can't afford it because I'm a single mother with youngin's at home and everything's about them ya know. Also Ive never used a chemical relaxer before so I'm new at this.Hair relaxer help??????
go to sally's they can point you to one but you will be looking for a sodium hydroxide.apply Vaseline petroleum gel around your head. depending on what kind you get if it comes mixed or you can apply straight to the head.well DON'T apply it to the scalp maybe 1/4 away from the scalp since you never had a relaxer apply from 1/4 from the scalp to your ends when you complete the whole head go back and apply to the scalp the reason for that is you scalp release heat and it will process faster so you do that last plus so you won't have that much irritate ...yes regularHair relaxer help??????
If you do decide to use a relaxer, I would go with Profectiv-- http://www.strengthofnature.com/therapeu鈥?/a> The activator is creme instead of liquid, and has always made my hair unbelievably straight....and i have VERY coarse roots!

if i were you, I would only leave it on for a very short time.

you can purchase it at your local beauty store, or a drugstore like Walgreen's.

after you use the relaxer the first time, make sure to only add it to new growth, or you can over process your hair, and it may become brittle/weak and break off.

    ...any other questions, just ask
just should try a kiddy perm since your hair is thin.....i would say use just for me kids one and use the lightest one and your hair will be good

edit:just use the normal on then
I would go to a local beauty store and ask one of the sales associates. But there are relaxers for all hair types. Make sure that you don't over process your hair.
in a salon it wont cost no more den 35 bucksz and if its ur first time i think its worth 2 spend da money den to mess up ur hair but umm u can go 2 a beauty supply store and ask da people who worksz there

Hair relaxer advancements of recent times? ?

I'm an older white male, but I noticed recently people like Secretary Condi Rice, and Michelle Obama, and the kids, all have flowing wind blowing straight hair? Can't be from an 'iron'? Is that some chemical? If they get caught in the rain, does that all change? Lastly, is long term use of whatever, safe for the hair and scalp? Hair relaxer advancements of recent times? ?
It could be a flat iron (pressing comb) or it could be a relaxer and it wouldn't change in the rain no more that any other texture of hair. I find it interesting that that you ask but when any chemical be it perms for white folks or relaxers I think there is some risk although nothing has been proven. Hope this helps.

Not necessarily; I had my hair pressed for years. It will friz if you are caught in a drizzle; but nothing that can't be blow dryed like any other texture that gets frizzy. Now a down pour is something different on pressed hair. If it is relaxed there is no difference at all. It stays the same for most folk; mine would wave up a little near my roots if the relaxer hadn't been done in a while but the rest would stay straight.

anything made by Revlon is good, they have extra conditioning bottles ( I think 2) for deep conditioning.....Good hair relaxer for african american hair?
I use dark and lovely,it has always work for me.
I have really really thick hair and a lot of it, so i use African Pride. I love the conditioner that comes in the kit, and my hairdresser actually told me to use a round brush to straighten my hair. I know everybody thinks that's a ';White girl'; method but it works so well cause it softens my hair and makes it straight but with some body. Good luck
I use dark and lovely....it works real good for my hair. And when I get ready to blow dry my hair I add Pink Morturizer Lotion to my hair first then blow dry using a vent brush. It not only get it straight but my hair has body and shine without looking dried out.
I use a kiddy perm Dark %26amp; Lovely/Beautiful Begginings, regular strength.

If you choose to use a adult relaxer go with Gentle Treatment.

Do I HAVE 2 get a perm/relaxer in my hair because I'm black?

I'm a black female here, but people try 2 tell me that I must get a perm in my hair, but I don't like perms because they burn too badly. Also, they put my hair more at risk for damage. I also have seborrhea-similar to psoriasis, %26amp; the Dr. told me not 2 perm my hair, but many ppl tell me I MUST get a perm in order to look better %26amp; so-called ';more professional';. I prefer to keep my hair natural. I have good, thick, %26amp; curly/wavy hair. Are they just jealous because I'm one black person whose hair doesn't necessarily require a perm? All professional hair dressers say that my hair is too pretty %26amp; too healthy 4 a perm. What's ur opinion? Thanks.Do I HAVE 2 get a perm/relaxer in my hair because I'm black?
Well I'm also a black girl 2 and i had a perm ever since I was five years old.Ever since i was five years old i regret of having a perm so my suggestion is that you don't need a perm cause you have beauty full hair that is naturally nice and the only reason a person gets a perm is when they have nappy hair and your hair don't even sound like its nappy. So all i have 2 say is DONT GET A PERM you'll go through hell trust me i have one right now and I'm going through hell with my hairDo I HAVE 2 get a perm/relaxer in my hair because I'm black?
All hair that is well-taken-care-of is pretty and healthy so please get rid of the notion of ';good'; or ';bad'; hair.

If your hair is healthy, then wear your hair in its natural state. If you're concerned about versatility, then have your stylist blow-dry or press your hair straight (as opposed to wearing curly hair all the time). Also, begin researching some natural stylists in your area. They're a wealth of information and care-tips for your natural tresses.

    Good luck. =^)
I'd say don't perm it if you don't want to. I would only ensure that you look nice for your job and it sounds that you do that already.
yes tip . if you no you are getting perm do not itch your hair.
do not get a perm!!!! ur hair is fine, just like pro hair dressers say!! and i'm sure it is great and pretty WITHOUT the perm! u'll ruine ur hair if u perm!
Yeah, leave your hair natural... if you need a professional look, wax it and tie it back tightly. Personally, I like the afro, and it is coming back in style.
No you don't you're the same as other person.
I think if the doc tells you no, then you listen to the doctor..it's other methods of staightening out your hair without using relaxer
WELL THAT IS MY OPINION THAT THOSE WHO ARE TRYING TO GET YOU TO PERM IT ARE JEALOUS CUZ OF THE WAY YOUR HAIR GROWS NOW...LISTEN TO YOUR DOCTOR AND DO NOT GET A PERM IN YOUR HAIR...IF YOU HAVE SKIN PROBLEMS NOW YOU DON'T NEED TO ADD MORE FLAMES TO THE FIRE...DON'T LISTEN TO THE OTHERS...LEAVE IT ALONE.........
I have seborrhea too and I keep my hair permed. I personally think it helps mine better. But I'm also white so my hair is different. I have a close friend that's black and she never perms her hair. She's all natural and I think she's pretty. So basically it's just a matter of personal choice. So do whatever you prefer.
You do not have to relax your hair;it's just an option for those who want to use it.You also have a medical condition which is not compatible with many beauty treatments;you can not dye your hair, either, and certain shampoos can make your condition worse. You like your hair the way it is,so there is absolutely no need for you to change it.
dont get it...and yes they are jealous. your hair sounds beautiful and just because u are black doesnt mean you have to get it. and like you said, it will really screw up your hair and damage it. so basically dont get a perm.
no u should not get a perm b cause when u get 1 and u start scrating your hair and when it is time 4 u 2 get a nother 1 it will burn n sum perms will break off your hair if u color your hair it would break your hair off b cause of the perm and u wold have 2 get 1 every 6 weeks so no i suggest u not 2 get 1
u dont have to get a perm u can use a straightening comb if u choose too..
Well, I'd give a lot of weight to opinions of your doctor and the professional hair dressers. I'd also give weight to your own personal preference. But since I don't know what you look like, I don't know if there's anything about your hair that's detracting from your own professional appearance. Maybe you could ask people that offer this opinion what their reasons are? Maybe a change in your jewelry or clothing might help. As for me, I think black women look good with really short hair. These are just the views of a white guy.

Does relaxer make your hair less pouffy and frizzy?

I was thinking about getting my hair relaxed. Its not curly, its got a bit of a wave to it. however its a pouffy frizzy mess half of the time and i would love to have my hair pin straight. Will this work like i'm hoping it will ( There is a noticable difference when i use a straightening iron)Does relaxer make your hair less pouffy and frizzy?
    yea it would

relaxers all my life and switch to curly permDoes relaxer make your hair less pouffy and frizzy?
frizz and pouffiness are signs your hair lacks adequate moisture in relation to the environment (weather). You need to do a weekly hot oil treatment to help seal moisture into your folicles.

I prefer Mizani and I use a Lye relaxer. I never use the box stuff because over time it will cause your hair to become hard and break off. I would recommend finding a stylist to look at your texture to determine the best relaxer. Optimum is also really good!

  • Hair relaxer for my hair type?

I have very thick hair that is curly when wet and dries so, but turns to waves after a couple days and actually gets pretty straight if I wrap my hair around my head overnight, or if I blow dry it straight. It can also get really curly and even literally bouncy if I twist it a bit while it air dries. So I guess my hair is...adaptable?

I want a hair relaxer that will straighten my waves. It doesn't need to be really straight, I'd prefer if it were about 80% (more or less) straight (hair that's too straight just doesn't look good on me). I hear relaxers are often used for African American type hair, so would my hair get very straight? I'm not sure if this is relevant, but I'm half Brazilian? (born in America, blood is 100% Brazilian)

    What's a hair relaxer?

A hair relaxer is a product which chemically straightens your hair. It's similar to a perm but with an opposite effect...it straightens instead of curls. :)

Had relaxer put on my hair and it is now really dry, what can I do?

my sister in law is my hairdresser. I am growing my hair out, so she said if we put a relaxer on my hair it would help during the growing out phase, so we did that, then we waited the 2 weeks in between and this past Monday, she put my color on. My hair has been so frizzy and dry, when they did my color they put a deep conditioner on my hair and put me under the dryer. When they styled it it looked great. They gave me the same conditioner and a plastic cap, I tried it and all's I get is the frizzies. What am I doing wrong? Could it be our water reacting with the relaxer. I never had any problems with our water any other times, my hair has always been soft. I can't stand all this frizz, any suggestions, please help.Had relaxer put on my hair and it is now really dry, what can I do?
put a whole bottle of vo5 conditioner on it and leave it on for 3 hours then wash it outHad relaxer put on my hair and it is now really dry, what can I do?
The brazillian straightener will make it look straight and healthy. It is an all natural product of keratin. You can use it on top of what you have already done.
This may sound gross but in the 20's-60's women used natural things that were cheap and it hid the fact that they did anything to there hair when other girls came over. My mom told me girls used to put mayo or avocado in there hair I have never tried it but my sister who is a Hair dresser does it all the time to hers and she says it works I don't have the guts for it but both have the oils in it to fix your hair. You can buy some deep conditioner to put in your hair as well ad I would do that every 3 days for a month or so and you will tell it worked after the 5th time doing it. That is what I do for my curly hair (mine is really dry)
Try a cup of mayonnaise (not Miracle Whip!) and leave it in for a couple of hours. You will have to wash 2 or 3 times to get it all out, but I would test a strand before the third. In the old days, that is all we had. A few drops of olive oil applied after should bring it back to normal, plus give it a good shine. Apply the olive oil while damp, and let your hair air dry. Maybe best to start this in the morning! Good luck.
Try getting a hot-pil product %26amp; follow the directions on the bottle...good luck!
Ask you beautician to give you a hot oil treatment. It helped my hair.

    Dark & Lovely hair relaxer??

ok every year I relax my hair before summer. I always buy this relaxer this time when I open it up the directions say not to use on color-treated hair at all. Target won't take it back because it is open. UGG! I dyed my hair back in November what do I do? Am I out $8.99? And where do you find the one for Color-Treated hair?Dark %26amp; Lovely hair relaxer??
You can still relax it, you just have to put on a filler first so that your hair doesn't become over processed.Dark %26amp; Lovely hair relaxer??
They tell you that as a precaution but if you dyed it back in November it should be safe to relax :-) just test it on a small area in the back first but I have dyed my hair and then relaxed it within weeks of each other and my hair was and is just fine
there is no such relaxers that can do that hair dyes n relaxers r both chemicals that damage the hair...when u dye or relax it strips the cuticles in ur hair strands thats y u have to wait at least 3 month to chemical treat ur hair wheaters its relaxer or dye...if u dyed it in november n its now march u can relax ur hair the only thing is its goin to change the color just a slight difference...believe me i try the dye then relaxer n it changed my purple hair to copper it looks nice though but it freaked me n my friends out lol
I would go ahead an use it anyway. I used the Olive Oil kind that comes in a green box. When I rinsed the relaxer out I saw a little bit of red hair dye in the drain, but my hair didn't fall out or anything.

If you haven't dyed your hair since November, and you don't relax it until, lets say...April or May, you should be fine. I think that the warning applies to hair that has been color treated recently (6 weeks or less).
i just think they say that but i have used that stuff and it said the same thing but it worked so dont worry.

first of all when you get it relaxed, make sure they don't put it on your scalp because it could really irritate it. Also, you should invest in getting a really good conditioner. (one that is PH balanced.) Or you could try this ';recipe'; for a conditioner. Combine one half avocado, 2 tbs of olive oil, and 1 tbs of mayo. Mix it all together, and leave it in your hair for about 3 minutes. After you wash it out, your hair will be really soft, and it will prevent it from breaking. Please answer!hair relaxer????
Well you can condition more just don't wash your hair prior to getting it done.Mizani is a really good relaxer.Just continue going to your hairstylist after you get your perm to prevent any damage that can be caused by relaxers.
what to do to get your hair ready for it to be relaxed? first of all... RELAX YOURSELF. i mean, don't worry, be happy! live your life in the best way and always keep nice things in mind.... peace and love. \m/ (hippie mood.)
i would recommend doing it yourself with organic root stimulizing olive oil relaxer works wonders but before you use it be sure (with any hair relaxer) you DON'T wash your hair for at least a day or else it will seriously burn your scalp. good luck!! ^_^

I recently put in a relaxer and yeahWhen can you get your hair wet after a relaxer is put in?
Even the next day is ok, the chemicals will have already worked or not! so it's all good! just bear in mind that relaxers tend to dry your hair out so get some products to add as much moisture and healthy oils as possible whilst still retaining movement and shine!

Are there any african american women who do not have a relaxer and who condition their hair and blow dry only?

i don't know what to do with my hairAre there any african american women who do not have a relaxer and who condition their hair and blow dry only?
    try this site - nappturality.com

Many of the posters are black women with natural, african textured hair. They can give you tips on applying heat, products, conditioners etc...It has blogs, pics and videos to explain techniques and show progress over time.

Also there's a yahoo group called black queen that could be helpful.

Good luck :)Are there any african american women who do not have a relaxer and who condition their hair and blow dry only?
I do not have a relaxer. I do not know what to do with my hair. I always wear wigs until I can grow my edges back out. I do not use a blow dryer because I do not know how to properly use one. I am more than willing to invest in a palm blow dryer, such as HotXffects.
How much hair do you have? You can press n' curl, flat iron, of you have a bonnet dryer you can try some roller sets for body. Braid your wet hair with a heavy moisturizer then let it down when its dry for crinkles and waves. What do you want done???

What is a good product to stop hair breakage.I got a relaxer 3wks ago and now I'm having hair breakage.?

First of all, were your hair damaged before you got the relaxer? A serious of treatments should solve your problem. I like the old time way. Sometime time I use plain mayonnaise on my hair for treatment. I spread a generous amount over the head and place a plastic bag on my head and set under a warm dryer fro 30 minutes. Let hair cool for a few seconds and rinse, use a leave in condition such as Elements, real good. Another treatment is Silk Elements.Use the same way as the mayo. Always make sure your hair is in good condition before you do a relaxer. What is a good product to stop hair breakage.I got a relaxer 3wks ago and now I'm having hair breakage.?
ApHogee protein treatment and moisturizer will re-strengthen your hair to stop the breakage. Get it at Sally's - they've got new one use packages now for $3.50 I believe...includes the pre-wash shampoo, protein treatment, and moisturizer (REQUIRED). I've used it after several bleaches...it works. What is a good product to stop hair breakage.I got a relaxer 3wks ago and now I'm having hair breakage.?
Most likely its not the fact that you got a perm thats making your hair fall out, its the way you treat and take care of your hair once you get the perm that determines if it will fall out....trust me i had a perm for a few years now

    Will africas best hair relaxer...?

im white. and i have really curly/wavy

    hair.

and i baught a hair relaxer.

and the brand is africas best. but its for black poeple and textured hair.

and i dont have textured hiar.

    i have curly and wavy.

will it still work ? and make it straught?

or will it seriously damage my hair?

best answer! Will africas best hair relaxer...?
Don't put harsh chemicals on your hair! You might end up bald. If you insist, you might want to try a small patch to see how it works. These chemicals are especially formated for textured corse hair. Some chemicals are mild and others are for really harsh hair. My question is why are you trying to do this yourself? Why not first let a professional do it? Why take such a big chance on ruining your hair? Also don't listen to people who don't know what they are talking about, in the end it is your hair not theirs. Will africas best hair relaxer...?
Oh i would HIGHLEY reccomend having that done professinally.. what they will do is take a permenant. and Brush your hair streight while its in. and when it sets. it will be streight and nice..

i dont think your hair will have enough moisture to protect if while using africas best...

but you could also ask a hair professinal at a salon if its worth trying.

    good luck.
Only leave it in for about half the time your supposed to. If it's regular strength you should be okay. But if it's super be very very careful! I have completely black hair, but that still damages my hair when I do it full term. I will definitely work though. haha good luck!
probably will damage your hair hun...it;s for course hair...not sure of the effect it will have on your hair.
    it should work...

try it and if it doesnt, then you should be able to wash it out.
let a professional do your hair
... just dont leave it in too long.

    Hair relaxer? tell me.?

okays so my hair is really naturally curly %26amp; i'm white.

last year on march 27, 2008; i had got a relaxer in my hair and they told me to wait 1 year to go get another relaxer in my hair.

i want my hair to be like loose wavy or straight.

any ideas? tell me anything that you know about the relaxers.

    please and thanks.

p.s. going get another relaxer maybe monday or tuesday. not sure yet.

    please and thanks people.

    :]Hair relaxer? tell me.?
Keep in mind that relaxers are very harsh chemicals and can be dangerous to the point that they create permanent bald spots on your head through scalp damage. It's MUCH healthier for your hair if you can wait a while between relaxers - like months, or even a year. It's possible you still have relaxed ends, if so then DO NOT put the relaxer on the hair that's already relaxed because this can break it off due to over-lapping - been there, done that. Just put the relaxer on your virgin hair. From looking at the other girl's pictures who also has a relaxer I can see her hair is straight at the ends and curly near the roots, so if she got another relaxer then she would only touch-up her roots. If you want to go longer between touch-ups then you can flat iron your roots to match the rest of your hair and this will be healthier for your hair to not regularly put harsh chemicals on it

If you want loose waves or curls then you can look into a texturizer. this loosens your natural curl and wave pattern. Its a weak relaxer, so if you do it incorrectly then you can permanently straighten your hair. If you go with a texturizer then DO NOT put it on the hair you already relaxed because this will cause over-processing and it can fall out, so just apply it to the roots.

Now, if you want to just keep your hair looking nice and straight then you can start touching up your relaxers when your roots start growing in. You should wait about 2 months or more between relaxers and this is so the beautician can distinguish between your new growth and relaxed hair so she won't overlap.Hair relaxer? tell me.?
i get one like every three months, dont listen because itll grow back quickly

Hi, I can't answer but I have a question for you! You don't have to answer if you don't want too.

What was your hair like when it was relaxed and how damaged did it get? I'm getting it relaxed and I'm curious, thanks!

    Hair Relaxer!!! Please Help!!?

I have very frizzy and curly hair and whenever i straighten it it just doesn't do anything. I want to get my hair relaxed and i want to know how long it lasts, how long do i have to not wash my hair, and how much it roughly costs. Keep in mind that i want it temporary and i want to get it done at Regis salon in Stonestown in San Francisco. so please someone tell me how long it lasts and what i should do.

Please And Thank You! Hair Relaxer!!! Please Help!!?
Firstly, relaxers are very harsh chemicals that break down the bonds of your hair, weakening it to make it straight (straight if you have curly hair and if you have straight hair it makes it curly). I'm so done with those things. It's also not good for your health in the long run (gives you cancer), not everyone's hair can tolerate these harsh chemicals as it can break your hair (in other cases make you bald) and it makes your hair extremely dry. Sure there are those who keep it in tip top shape, but that requires A LOT of maintenance.

Relaxed hair is not temporary it is permanent. The ends of your hair will remain relaxed while when you start having some new growth at the roots your natural textured hair will be there and that grows on average half an itch a month. Some people get a ';touch up'; every month just at the roots to keep it in line with the rest of the hair. It is best to relax hair every 3 months or so if you're going to do it to rest your hair of harsh chemicals every month. Relaxed hair will also need LOTS of moisture!

It depends on the salon you go to for the cost and how long your hair is (can be more expensive if you have long hair). Around my way it cost $40 and up. You can wash your hair whenever you like but I will suggest if you got a fresh perm to not ruin it so much by at least not washing hair for a week, just moisture (you will NEED to) 'till you can do your regular regimine.

Honestly you should just flat iron your hair and get some hair serums to protect your hair from the heat and to keep it smooth. You can also try to rock your beautiful curly hair too by buying some products specifically for curly hair that will tame those frizzes and curls. Wouldn't it be lovely to go from straight to curly whenever you feel like it? If you like that idea don't relax your hair!

Seek a professional when you make up your mind.

if you wait just a few weeks, your new growth at your scalp will add lift and you may end up liking it.....if you want to reverse the relaxer without damaging your hair, you can try to wash it and put a heavy moisturizer on it...that may help a bit, but I wouldn't do any more chemicals to it at this timeHair relaxer issues.?
    Use volmizing shampoo.

    And volmizing mousse.

    It helps me lots :]
Roll it up or cut it short! Hey it's summer!
Don't do any more chemicals in your hair.

And I agree with the person before me, when the new roots start growing in and give it some lift, you might like it.

In case you're not following this regime already, only shampoo your hair about once a week so it can retain some moisture.

Use a leave-in conditioner everyday to moisturize and protect hair from drying products in gel, mousse, etc.

Try not to heat style, or keep it to a minimum.

Deep condition once a week for about a half-hour. Again, for moisture purposes.

relaxer works, but it damages your hair.if this is your first time get it done by a professional. you usually get it done at a Beauty school. it has a fair price range not too expensive but not too cheap. they pary your hair and apply the chemicals to the roots and up a little. it doesn't take that long. but if you feel a burning sensation tell her/he to rinse it off quick so your hair won't get damaged.

My mom just got her hair relaxed today, it started burning it was on for about 10 minutes until it got rinsed off. The top of her hair looks flat almost balding like. The hair looks clump togther at the root only on a top portion the rest is fine.

she added viatimin e oil, aloe and conditioned it.

what can she do to make sure no more hair breakage happens?

what can she put on her scalp?

will her hair grow and be manageble?

any advice please help!!Hair relaxer gone wrong! HELP!?
Did she have this done at a salon? Or was it a home thing? If it was done at a salon, she needs to call the salon, speak to the manager and demand that she be compensated for the botched job.

If she doesn't want to go back to the salon, she needs to get guidance from another stylist so she knows exactly what to do and not to do. She may have to get her hair cut short now; the weight of her hair may cause it to break now and the sooner the damage is removed the better.

If there are actual chemical burns on the scalp, she can put an antibiotic cream or ointment like neosporin on it.

Eventually, her hair will grow back out and should be very similar to what it was before.

    Does it hurt your hair?

Should I get it done by my hair dresser?

What is the product that works the best?Hair Relaxer!?!?! Help Me Please!
I have never known a hair relaxer to last for a year. A relaxer will normally last for several weeks. However, you can get a touch up to keep the new growth straight as well. I suggest you go to a licensed cosmetologist for this procedure so that person can select the best form of relaxer for your type of hair. Relaxer has no effect on the new hair that will grow in and if you do not receive touch ups you will still have relaxer on the ends of your hair but your new growth will be the same as your natural textured hair. My suggestions Are QP Elasta and Mizani. Seek a stylist who uses those brands.Hair Relaxer!?!?! Help Me Please!

But when you get a perm it might burn

You should always get it done by the hair dresser

Umm...No. I don't think such a relaxer exsists! You will mos def have to get touch ups...and it has been known to wear down the hair after continuous use. What is the difference between a perm and a relaxer and which one is better for your hair?

because i need one badly and i don't know which oneWhat is the difference between a perm and a relaxer and which one is better for your hair?
On ';White'; hair use a perm to relax your hair (you just don't put it up in rollers). African-American hair has more layers and so relaxers are formulated for those layers. Relaxers are very harsh and will disintegrate white hair.

Edit: I don't think a perm would relax your hair completely. You should get a professional or someone VERY experienced to do this for you. If you go to a pro, they will be able to tell you what you need for your hair type and texture.

Good luck and best wishes. What is the difference between a perm and a relaxer and which one is better for your hair?
there are two types of perm, one that curls ur hair and the other straightens. A relaxer is made for very kinky hair, generally african american has this hair type. Relaxer has very harsh chemicals and can harm your hair. Perm also have alot of chemicals and if you dont follow the directions, u can damage ur hair. Becareful if ur doing this urself. try a professional or a friend who knows what she is doing. good luck
Perm makes your hair curly Relaxers make it straight

    Hair Relaxer?? Wondering...........

OK. Schools around the corner right?? Well i hav shoulder length thick curly black hair!! ((wow thats alot)). I dont no how to properly style it or handle it. i was wondering if i shud get a straight relaxer. but ive neva gotten one. im puerto rican and hav dry damaged hair. so my question is........ Would gettin a relaxer help my hair or make it worse?? if help, how?? if make it worse, how??Hair Relaxer?? Wondering...........
Uhm, don't get a relaxer. It will make your hair worse and you will REGRET it. Why don't you go to a Dominican or Puerto Rican salons. It will give FAR better results than having relaxer just done. Besides, relaxed hair can make your hair dry so with out the proper maintenance than your doomed. The best thing to do is take care of your hair. You need to balance it with enough moisture and protein. If your hair is mushy, gump, or too soft after applying shampoo/conditioner, you need protein. If your hair stretches too much or is to hard, you need moisture. If you hair is stretches slightly but reverts back, your hair is perfect. By the way, my best friend hair is down to her bra strap and its sooo curly so thats ALOT. Hair Relaxer?? Wondering...........

A relaxer contains lye and must be applied by a qualified beautician.

A relaxer will permanently change the structure of your hair until it grows out. However it requires very special handling and if you ignore this information and mistreat your hair it will break off.

So be prepared to pay a professional to do this treatment if you do not want to end up bald.
I have the same type of hair! and i just got my hair relaxed too! it worked magic, my hair is straight and smooth! and it doesnt cost a lot, theres so many different types of relaxers though! like some for course hair and some for curly, so I would suggest you ask your hairstylist or look at sallys.com for the right relaxer! good luck!
if your hair is damage then i wouldn't recomend a relaxer although...if you go to a salon ask them to use protein in the hair before applying the relaxer i can't remember this stuff i used to use but it kind of smells like soy sauce lol
id get a relaxer try john freida products they're great

    Hair relaxer information needed....?

I'm a caucasian woman with natural wavy hair. I haven't used any perms on my hair for about 3 years. I used to have a hair straightener put on my hair every 2 or 3 months. It would stay straight somewhat. There were some curls here and there.

I'm african american & i have a relaxer but id like to get highlights, will bleach damage my hair alot?

I have relaxed hair and i want to get highlights done professionally, although i know they typically use bleach. My hair is very healthy despite a few split ends. Would bleach damage my hair a lot and if so is there something else they use at salons not containing bleach or thats less harmful as bleach? Or if i do get foil highlights using bleach is there a deep conditionong treatment that would restore my hairs nutrients and prevetnt breakage?I'm african american %26amp; i have a relaxer but id like to get highlights, will bleach damage my hair alot?
try to go to a stylist who doesn't use bleach. it is possible to highlight your hair without using bleach. also, having relaxed hair and also getting some color added to it will damage your hair, even if just a little. make an appointment with a stylist in your hair and discuss your concerns with him/her. good luckI'm african american %26amp; i have a relaxer but id like to get highlights, will bleach damage my hair alot?
bleach damages anybody's hair. you should get it done professionaly by a hair stylist that doesn't use bleach. it's possible
there is loreal hair dye that deep condishions your hair to
Bleach would damage your relaxed hair. Any chemical process, whether it's a relaxer, color, perm or highlights alters the integrity of the hair. Think of it as ';controlled'; damage. But, if it's done right, you shouldn't get breakage. Talk to the professional who relaxed your hair about it. If you do your relaxer at home, then find a professional with a good reputation and have a consultation with them. If you see someone, or know someone with relaxed hair, and they have highlights. Ask them where they get it done. Even if they are a stranger, people usually consider it a compliment. Once your hair is chemically treated, you can never restore it back to a healthy hair follicle. Conditioners and treatments are only cosmetic. There is no such thing as ';rebuilding the hair';.
Even though your hair is pretty healthy now, having a chemical process done on top of another chemical process can lead to damage, such as hair breakage and extreme dryness of the hair and scalp. I used to get highlights all the time in high school, and my stylist suggested I use children's relaxers after the coloring was done - mainly because the chemicals wouldn't be as strong as in an ';adult'; relaxer. Secondly, regardless if you get highlights done by foil or ';cap and hook'; method, the stylist should suggest you deep condition your hair at least once a month, and also use conditioning shampoos and conditioners to keep the hair mosturized. They will also use one on your hair after coloring it, as well. But, notice I said it ';can'; lead to damage, but doesn't have to. By keeping your hair mosturized, and using a good line of grease and other hair products (I prefer Motions) can really keep the health of your hair up.

My hair is curly, thick and dry. ( but honsetly speaking, my hair does not feel like hispance hair)Hair....?!?!Relaxer?!?
Hello, I am a hair stylist. First, you should only put relaxer on your new growth. If the rest of your hair is curly, you can put relaxer on it for no more than 5 minutes before you rinse. If your hair is always very curly when you do a touch-up, try getting a relaxer every 6-8 weeks. If you have split ends, trim them off. If you do not, it is probable that your hair will continue to split all the way to your scalp and you will have no healthy hair at all. To soften it, make sure you are using conditioner. I recommend using cholesterol after you shampoo and weekly for a deep condition. If you are using hot tools, make sure to protect your hair with heat protecter. You can use oil sheen instead of shine spray to shine up your hair. (It's cheaper and does the same thing) Hope this helps and feel free to email for more!Hair....?!?!Relaxer?!?
yes, never ever apply relaxer over already relaxed hair... your hair might be beyond the point of recovery... for really dry hair i would suggest biolage ultrahydrating balm.. use this after your regular shampoo and conditioner every time you wash.. if you really want to treat your hair get back to basics rich moisture shampoo and conditioner..Its thick and creamy and smells like pina coladas and softens and nourishes really dry hair... if your hair is breaking or feels mushy i would suggest getting sebastian penetrait. it replaces the protein thats broken down through chemical processes...if you do get these products one at a time start with the biolage ultrahydrating *theres hydrating and ultra hydrating, you want ultra* then the back to basics, you might not need the penetrait if your hair isnt mushy or breaking...
First you have to trim your split ends. Then try this trick it works great it may sound alittle gross at first but it works great! add a tablespoon of olive oil to your conditioner! it works wonders! also try only washing your root for about a month but remeber to condition condition!
    um, WHOA lol

U put relaxer on ALL of the hair?? It's only suppossed to be on the curly roots(called ';new growth';)

Okay, first of all get rid of those split ends. You can do this by cutting your hair ends.

Then you have to do a PROTEIN TREATMENT. This is a product that will repair all the damage you have done. There are A LOT of protein treatments out there, a lot of brands have them. I recommend JOICO K-PAK because it is totally THE best because it has REAL human protein in it(others use things like vegetable protein). It is 30 bucks for a tube though....Redken also makes a good one called ';CAT';. you could also try ';Aphogee 2 minute'; treatment. Please try one of these if you can, you NEED it. If you really can't afford it, I've heard several times that mayonaisse and eggs will work.

    To put moisture back into your hair, DEEP CONDITION it. Do this by placing conditioner on your hair, putting a shower cap over your hair, and wrap in a warm towel. Leave on for 20 minutes. A good cheap one is Organic Roots Stimulator ';Replenishing Pak';

You said your hair doesn't feel like ';hispanic hair';. Idk what you mean by ';feel'; but I guess you mean it is super curly like black people's hair. Even though it is curly, DO NOT RELAX OFTEN! 2-3 months is good!

This will give you great hair:

1)Shampoo w/ ';Creme of Nature'; *rinse*

    2)Protein treatment *rinse*

3)Deep Condition w/ Replenishing pak *rinse*

4)Air-dry in magnetic rollers(will take a couple of hours or overnight depending on how long your hair is)

this site is cool it's where i get my stuff from: http://forum.blackhaimedia.com email me if u want my username

    healthytextures.com is great too

    and so is longhaircareforum.com
You are over processing your hair. You only need to add the relaxer to the new growth only. You need a deep conditioner and a daily moisturizing lotion

    Hair Relaxer?

    How damaging is it?

    How long does it last?

    Thanks (:Hair Relaxer?
I would go to the shop. You can really damage your hair doing it at home for the 1st time and not knowing what your hair really needs. You have virgin hair and that's like a blank canvas to an artist.

If you really want to do it at home..I would research that product and go with regular or sensitive. I would do the strand test before relaxing my whole head.Hair Relaxer?
Honey, Please go to a good Professional.

Relaxers can be like fire!!!! It is great if you know what you are doing. It can damage like hell if you don't know what you or doing.

Damage can last for life, I have a bald spot that I had for 35 years now and hair is never expect to grow there again (the papilla or root is destroyed for good).

Ordinarily relaxers last for 6 to 8 weeks or longer, then you will possibly need a retouch. This is not conclusive in general for many people. A trained person will know, but find a good one. Usually remmendation from some one you trust.

    Good Luck!
Any chemical you put on your hair can damage it. It is worth the expense to go to a salon to have this done. They can choose the right one for your type of hair and will cause the least amount of damage.

Okay, does the time limit for having a hair relaxer on begin while applying the relaxer to the hair or does it begin after it has been completely applied?Hair Relaxer! I need some help.?
It begins while applying the relaxer to the hair.It suppose to take about 8 min to apply the relaxer to your hair and 5-7 min for fine hair ,8-10 min for normal hair ,8-12min for coarse/resistant hair to smooth the hair. (i'm talking about when using a regular relaxer.Hair Relaxer! I need some help.?
While applying the relaxer! Once it is all in you will be screaming you head off, and ready to get it off. :] It will still work if you leave it in after you're done for like 2 mins if you can handle that :]

    Hair relaxer gone wrong!?

I texturized my hair last night and followed all the directions. My scalp started burning really bad so we washed it out asap and did a leave in conditioner. Now i have hair missing at the top and back of my head and a some scabs. What can i do?? This looks disgusting and I work at the airport so i see people everyday. Will this grow back fast, my hair does have tendency to grow but does this mean it will not grow back now and what do i do about the scabs?Hair relaxer gone wrong!?
see a stylist. i believe it will grow back. dont relax your hair if you are cacausion. it only tends to work on african american textured hair.

    Hair relaxer down sides.?

Is using a hair relaxer gonna make my hair fall out? Any other bad things that can happen?Hair relaxer down sides.?
It does have the potential to cause hair to fall out if not done properly. If it is a retouch, then you run the risk of overlapping with the previously chemically straightened hair and this can cause breakage.

Some times the damage is not using the right kind of relaxer for your hair type. You should have it done professionally done. If you choose to do it yourself, ask someone at a beauty supply store to help choose the right one for your hair. Read the instructions carefully and have someone help you to do this.Hair relaxer down sides.?
You can damage your scalp that will make your hair not grow back at all if not done properly.

If you have individual braids in your hair and take them out how long should you wait before getting a relaxer

My individual braids are not tight and not loose. I am african american and 15 years old. And I havent had my hair relaxed(permed) since summer of 2006. Which is the best BRAND of relaxer to use for african american . And what is the best Relaxer to get to make it super super super STRAIGHT light, normal, or super. If you have individual braids in your hair and take them out how long should you wait before getting a relaxer
ok well, for starters, u should wait anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks b4 relaxing ur hair, second- the best relaxer in my opinion is creme of nature and or even gentle treatment- for straight dead hair u would just use normal- it just had to be done right- if ur hair is really coarse then i would suggest using the super.good luck and hope i was of some help to u.If you have individual braids in your hair and take them out how long should you wait before getting a relaxer
I wouldn't put a relaxer in if I was you. I would go to a beauty salon and get a consultation first and then let them do it. Mizani and Dudley products are the best.

What hair relaxer do you use?

i have always used chemical perms and relaxers but have just recently switched to the chemical free ';mo' body'; relaxer and my hair has never been so vibrant and healthy.

Is it okay to get a weave in your hair when you have a relaxer in your hair?

i have a relaxer in my hair and i recently cut my hair and i hate it short and i want it long again and i was wondering if it would be okay to braid my relaxed hair and add weave into it?Is it okay to get a weave in your hair when you have a relaxer in your hair?
If your hair is recently relaxed don't braid it up for a weave. Wait at least a month after a relaxer before you put it in a weave. The hair is too fragile right after a relaxer to braid it tightly.

I love weaves and wear them most of the time. I hope this helps! :)Is it okay to get a weave in your hair when you have a relaxer in your hair?
    I don't see why not.

  • Hair Relaxer for very soft (african) hair!!?

Hi there, does anyone know any nice relaxers out there. I have very soft hair and most of the products i tried end up making my hair fall so much so if you know anything that will work and is also mild, i would really appreciate it!! thanks..Hair Relaxer for very soft (african) hair!!?
NO relaxer is nice...or easy on your hair!

They are drying and if your hair is soft, why would you want to relax it?

Do you want to make it straight? If so there are other alternatives. I would say if you have had problems in the past with products making your hair fall out,you should consult a professional.

Good luck and remember natural hair is the healthiest.Hair Relaxer for very soft (african) hair!!?
Try Revlon Realistic Relaxer the mild formula.

Dr. Miracle Relaxer the mild formula

Luster Pink Relaxer the mild formula.

    Hawaiian Silky the mild formula.

    Just follow the instructions exactly.
It sounds like you have that is very similar to mine So I would say when you and shooping for a relaxer you looking one that says mild or extra mild or for soft(natural curly hair)
Phyto specific makes an excellent relaxer. It is a bit expensive, but it is very much worth it. I use it, and I only leave it in for about 15 min. You have to get it done by a professional, you can buy the products at Saks, but the relaxer is a little harder to find. It is usually done by a stylist that knows there stuff- actually the company is very choosy about who distributes their product so if you find a person that uses it- you are probably in good hands, It may be difficult to find someone that uses the product- go to upper scale places and you should be able to find someone

    Waht's a hair relaxer?

and also which company makes a good 1?

can it also work as anti-frizz?Waht's a hair relaxer?
some chemical substance which once on your hair change the consistency of your hair, making it straighter.Waht's a hair relaxer?
    Valium for your hair
A relaxer is basically lye or sodium hydroxide (pH 10 ) that breaks a chemical bond in your hair shaft thus removing the polymeric bends. NaOH is caustic and will burn if it is left on too long. Many women and hair companies claim that your hair can be healthy even if its chemical structure is altered. You can make your mind up about that. Having had relaxers for 25 years and suffering from burned scalps, and broken hair, I can tell you that once I went natural I am likely not going back to relaxing. Couple of other things to keep in mind: CaOH (one element different) is the depilatory used in Nair and other hair removal products. That completely disintegrates the hair. Lye will do the same thing if left on too long. Remember relaxers are not reversible, they must be grown or cut out. The interface between the virgin hair and relaxed hair is also very fragile. Hope this helps you to make an informed decision.
Hair relaxer is something that straightens your hair.
It's a perm. You just don't curl it with the chemical on ur hair, you comb it straight then rinse.
    A day spa for rabbits.
    a straightner...........
A hair relaxer is something that smoothes the hair to it's most relaxed state. Eg. Curly hair which is usually fuzzy would just be curly, with no fuzz. A chemical relaxer is permanent straightening, i'm not sure which one your talking about.

A good non-chemical relaxer is the Schwarzkopf Zero Frizz range, or the PPS Be Bent, Be Straight, Or DFRIZZ Smootheez are awesome to.

The bottom line is.. a hair relaxer is an anti-frizz product.
it is what is used by black women to straighten hair...some are stronger than others so read the directions very carefully...
hair relazer is a chemical you put in your hair for up to 15mins to make it straight. women who want a mroe permenant solution for getting dtraight hair use this.

its recommended you relzx your hair between 6-9wks.

many brands make relaxers... Optimum is a good brand but look around and see which one is best for you.

    it comes in different strengths-mild

    -normal

    -strong

go to a hair salon and let a specialist tell you which type is best for you and she/he would recommend a brand

    Hair relaxer question?

Okay so if I were to buy a lye relaxer -- meaning you don't need the activator and it doesn't come in a box -- would I have to take the amount I'm going to use out in a little bowl or something then close the lye relaxer and put ti away or something? My sister told me that it can spoil or something if you don't do that. And, I didn't use much this time, and I have a lot left over that I can use when I'm post. Please reply. Thank you.Hair relaxer question?
No you can apply straight from the jar, but some people do scoop out portions to keep hairs from being in the mix especially if they do other peoples hair - like at the salon. Also dipping from the jar can make it seem bottomless and you use more, therefore going to need another jar sooner. Scooping makes you apply relaxer sparingly - though enough to get desired straightness, yanno get another scoop if you still have a section to do when the first scoop is done.

Always store in a cool dark place, heat can make the chemicals separate and loose effectiveness. As for expiring, you're generally good for a year, if you relax every 6-8 weeks, you should be on a 2nd jar before the year is out. BUT some beauty supplies - not all -but mainly asian put expiring products out front - like they do meat at the grocer but give you a discount to buy. But you could buy a product that has been sitting in their warehouse 2 years, and think you're gonna use it all year, and wondering in 2 months why you aren't getting the same results as when you applied 2 months ago. So depending on where you buy always check the exp date, open and look at and sniff the product if you can.

    Hair relaxer Problem. Please help!?

My sister (she is caucasian) she tried to relax her hair with box relaxer for African American's hair.. After she did it, it looks strange, so she kept trying to moisturize it. Now its Completely horrible, it feels really weird, and the strands break off in your hand %26amp; from a brush or comb.

She had med-long hair and i cut it off above her shoulders but it still feels horrible. I dunno what to do. She had it bleached and then she had dyed it black about 2 weeks ago. Shes naturally blond. If that helps at all. Any ideas?!Hair relaxer Problem. Please help!?
because that hair relaxer was made for African-Americans ..NOT..Caucasian hair it reacted differently.

i would advice you to go to a hair salon or to a doctor.

also, she is putting way to many chemicals in her hair and that could also be why her hair is falling out!!

try to lay off on the dye for a while!!Hair relaxer Problem. Please help!?
I'm a hairdresser and I see this quite often. Your sister already had very damaged hair b4 she straightened it. Once the hair has been bleached and colored it no longer has enough integrity left to the hair shaft to withstand the hair straightener. THese products are very harsh. Frankly, the only thing you can do is cut it short and wait until she has all new growth. At that point she can go to a professional for a chemical straightening. I recommend researching the chinese method. It's expensive but i've seen some really great results. Good luck!
it doesn't matter what your race is you should never put a chemicial relaxer on previously colored or highlighted hair. and be very very careful when coloring or highlighting after one also. My advice is that she is lucky to have any hair left. leave it alone or go to a hair salon that you really trust and pray as for conditioning i would recomend redken antisnap as a leave-in or maybe joico k-pack reconstruct split end mender and for a treatment try saturating your hair with any type of conditioner and covering with a shower cap and using a blow dryer to heat it up for atleast 15 min. or longer

Unfortunatly when it is fried its fried usually theres nothing that can be done ecept buying some hair growth vitimians and grow the crap out so you came get that short pixy youv'e always wondered about... good luck
Basically her hair is excessively dry and damaged from the bleaching and relaxing. Bleach and relaxers never mix-whether you wait 1-2-3-4-5 weeks between. When you see african americans with blonde hair it is either natural texture, a weave/wig, or they went thru several processing steps to achieve the level of lightness as caucasions. She can try some of the deep conditioning and reconstructing treatments suggested by previous posters to halt the breakage, but weak hair will continue to be combed/brushed/fall out for weeks to come. She also shouldn't wash her hair everyday - which would be more drying, and she'll need to use a daily moisturizer to her regimen as well.

But generally with the type of damage you describe, and how the damaged was achieved with bleach over a relaxer, most people just call it a loss and go for the pixie cut. Hair as you describe is no fun to try and style and rarely looks good on a daily basis.

    Sorry for her loss...
NEVER GET A RELAXOR FOR THE WRONG HAIRTYPE OVER THE COUNTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have one and I'm African American but I got it done by a stylist, which would've helped although it is expensive it is the best way. It's breaking off because she's not taking proper care of it, trust me, it happened to my mom and friends of mine! She needs to maintaine the relaxor and from a time period ranging from a month to eight weeks. ONLY ADD WHAT THE STYLIST SAYS TO ADD! She has to have strong hair to begin with before she gets the relaxor, or else it's pointless. She needs to wrap her hair EVERY NIGHT before she goes to bed and wear special hair ties. She should wash her hair every other week unless she's an athlete and she can wash it weekly. Heat can only be used when washed. before renewing her relaxor, she can't use a bristle brush for a week or wash. She also shouldn't scratch. Keep it as dry as possible. Right now, there is not much to do but let it all fall out, but this is advice for the future, when it will be helpful. See a hair stylist for farther advice on how to save the hair, by using hair mayonaise to build strenghth in her hair.
You'll need to go to a hair place (like Sally's hair supply) and buy a hot oil treatment. There isn't much you can do for the breakage at the ends, but an oil treatment will seal the hair follicle and make the scalp healthy so that healthy hair can grow from the scalp. You'll also need to buy an intense moisturizing shampoo, moisturizing conditioner, and leave-in conditioner. As for everything else, try not to put anymore stress on the hair. No more dye for a while. Find a creme or spray moisturizer that is best for her hair type and apply it liberally all over the hair every day. At night, wrap her hair and tie it up. You can do this buy parting the hair in the middle or on either side, and brushing it around and around until all of her hair is wrapped around her head. After this, tie it up with a silk or soft scarf. It looks silly, but it gives the hair a chance to rest and her hair won't dry out again while she sleeps. Sorry about the hair mishap, and good luck!

Hair Relaxer( I need to know about it)?

I keep reading on-line that hair relaxer damages hair...and that's what I use for my hair..I don't know why but that's what my mom makes me use...How does hair relaxer damages hair? does it make it fall out or something? Or does it make hair stop growing? I wanna know so I can tell my mom to stop using it in my hair because I don鈥檛 know why but when I brash my hair, I end up having more hair on my comb. So am wondering if the hair relaxer is causing my hair to do that...Well, thanks for your helpHair Relaxer( I need to know about it)?
Ok...it depends on how much hair is coming out to know if it is from damage or from normal hair growth. On a daily basis, you are supposed to shed 100 strands of hair a day and that is from combing your hair everyday. If you miss a few days, say your hair is in a style hat you do not comb, then you will lose a few days worth of hair (ie: 3 days, 300 strands). Now, as far as relaxers go, they have chemicals in them that allows them to straighten your hair. Chemicals are not great for the hair. But to be honest, if you do not have naturally straight hair and you want it, you will do something that can be damaging to it to straighten it (ie. relaxing it or flat ironing it-either chemical damage or heat damage). I just say if you are gonna straighten you hair, you can minimize the damage by deep conditioning it regularly, keeping your ends trimmed and just having a stylist that SPECIALIZES in healthy hair care. Hope this helps and good luck. Hair Relaxer( I need to know about it)?
As long as you take care of it properly relaxed hair can grow long, strong, and healthy.

(Hair relaxer) what should I do when my roots grow out, how can I straighten it?

I had my hair about chemically relaxed about 2 months ago. My roots are growing it. I would retouch it, because it's lookin pretty rough, but I have no one to do it since I'm off in college. HAIR RELAXER WENT BAD?

So my sister let one of her beauty school drop out friends lol put a relaxer on her hair because her hair is very curly. She has got hair relaxers in the past same kind done professional and they were fine..But 2 week prior to this she had got blech put in her hair...So of course when the girl put the relaxer in her hair started falling out...When it came time to put the nuetralizer on the girl was so freaked she left it on for like 5 min and my sister says it usually stays on alot longer. At first her hjair was very crimped up..Now its ok after 2 months of many conditionars but her hair is not growing! can someone tell me why is this??? and how we can fix it???HAIR RELAXER WENT BAD?
NEVER trust a beauty school drop out because most likely it means they weren't paying attention!HAIR RELAXER WENT BAD?
To be honest not much. The possibility of the hair shaft is seriously damaged so she's going to need professional help to nourish her scalp to get it to start growing healthy. She needs to get it asset to know how much damage is done to do correction therapy. Be prepared to find out that it might not fully grow in and that she might have bald spots in her head. I experienced with my cosmetology classmate. Leave chemicals to professionals not unless you are willing to lose your head. Hair!
well the drop out person obviously wasn't paying attention when she learned about it.

so uhm next time don't let a drop out person do your hair.

first of all i feel for what u r going through with your sister secondly that's y u should always go to a licensed beautician in saying that i say this tell her to go to a salon and get someone with good sense and trained in hair to fix the problem don't let hood beauticians touch your sister head anymore and further the damage not knocking her friend.curly hair is in i have curly hair and i wouldn't change that for nothing she might have to cut the relaxer all out or sport a short look hope it works out for yall

  • Hair relaxer help!?!?

I wanna get a hair straightning relaxer and my sister says that if I go in a pool it wil de-activate it and will come out and make my hair curly and frizzy again, is this true?

If so what kind of hair relaxer don't come out because I want my hair straight I have natural curly hair and I spend 2 hours in the heat with a straightner LOL, so does the relaxer permenantly straighten your hair? Or does it just stay for like 1 or 2 days?

And is a perm better than a hair relaxer?

    Thanks soooooooo much!%26lt;3Hair relaxer help!?!?
perm and relaxer are the same...and yes if you get it wet it will go back to your natural state some what....to get it back straight all you have to do is blow dry it and straighten it (so i would recommend not getting your hair wet)Hair relaxer help!?!?
yes, goin in a pool will make it frizzy, the relaxer will keep your hair straight until it gets wet and then u have to straighten it with straightening irons, and perms and relaxers are basicaly tha same x
a perm is deffinitely better then a hair relaxer. a relaxer basically just tames the curls but not very well . both damage your hair however.

    Hair relaxer/chemical straightners?

So I'm thinking about straightening my hair with one of those like, relaxer kit type of boxes? That are usually sold for black women? But theres quite a few different ones so I'm wondering what should I look for? My hair is NOT virgin, I straighten it probably 5 times a week. And it's been dyed countless times. My hair is naturally pretty curly, I'm not trying to get it bone straight just want it to be maybe wavy and maintainable. But again, not sure what I should get. I've also heard some relaxers only straighten once and then after a while your hair goes back to normal? I want it to stay! Suggestions? :SHair relaxer/chemical straightners?
There are no straightens that last forever. you need to go to your hair dresser and have this done since you have never done before you try doing alone you may destroy your hair and it will take forever to come back the same. and its possible to loose hair forever as well good luckHair relaxer/chemical straightners?
I wouldn't get the chemical straightener done on your hair! Yes they are usually done on ebony hair, which is a lot different than white girl! I thought about it once, but a friend who had it done says it thrashes your hair! Especially if your hair is already borderline over processed! Also, when it starts to grow out, the top half of your hair will be curly, and the rest will be straight...hmmm not so cute lol.

    Good luck!
well there are more than one type of relaxers. the very good oness are better as the ones that are used for black women are really bad because theyll make ur hair spill out if not done properly since black women usually have stronger hair. the Asain chemical straightening costs alot but it lasts until your hair grows out..so around 6 months and it even improves ur hair texture itll make it straight and supersoft. its around $250 to get done

but i think its worth it.. goodluck :)
You're trying to make your hair fall out...first of all, you don't want to use one of those kits because they have calcium in it and that dries your hair out. Secondly, you dye your hair too much, then you put too much heat in it...you are better off going to salon to get it straighten out then curled they way you desire...but that's your hair...good luck.

    Hair relaxer question?

hey, im 22 and a guy, and ive got about 4 inch long, hair, see the thing is i straightened my hair today with a relaxer and it gave me great results, see a month ago i relaxed it, but the effect had worn off, wut i mean by that is my hair was still curly after the treatment, and basically did nothing, so i waited over a month and relaxed it again, because it was really curly again, so i knew that it was time to straighten, did i damage ? i asked my sister about it and shes done it before and says that im fine, how do iknow if its damaged?Hair relaxer question?
i dont think youve damaged it, otherwise your hair would have fallen out. but it really all depends on how long you kept it on for. i know that its time to rinse the relaxer out when theres either no curl left or its wavy. i dont suggest putting another relaxer on already relaxed hair. it will damage and break, just do the regrowth.Hair relaxer question?
Its probably not, but it can dry your hair out. Ive had a relaxer, but my hair is real long now and its grown out.

    Hair Relaxer question, please answer?

Ok, I'm a dude, I like long hair but my hair is sorta frizzy, well like when I take a shower my hair is straight but then it sorta gets poofy. So I had a party a week ago and I went to a salon (Fantastic Sam's) to get my hair starighted up for the party, the lady who was straightning my hair told me to consider my hair getting permantly straight via Hair relaxing it. I'm not White nor African-American, Im hispanic so My hair is thick. Right now my hair is about half my eyes lenght, doyou guys think I should get my hair relaxed? Thanks. Oh and I don't get Afro's neither, it's just that it gets poofy and I hate it, I have wavy hair...Hair Relaxer question, please answer?
if you prefer your hair relaxed, then relax it but check that it wont damage your hair before you use the product.Hair Relaxer question, please answer?
I think you should get it relaxed since that's what you like. Just know, relaxers are not permanent, and will require upkeep. The faster your hair grows, the more often you will have to get it done.

When your hair is not naturally straight, it's essentially curly...the tighter the curl the more coarse a person's hair feels. For caucasians, perms will curl their hair, all other nationalities without straight hair, perms straightens the hair. As your hair grows it requires ';touch ups';, so be prepared to pay the extra money for the upkeep if you opt to get your hair relaxed instead of finding a nice cut to compliment your facial features with your hair in it's natural state. Good luck.

So I was thinking about doing it permanently straight. or like relaxing.. and getting like 2-4 red highlight streak on the back..

    and get a haircut like..

    http://img168.imageshack.us/my.php?image鈥?/a>

Soo.. what do you guys think? what is ur opinion? please tell.

and if u knw.. can u tell how much does it cost to do highlights, relaxing hair, and getting a cut?

Thanks so muchHair relaxer and highlight opinion? (pic included w/ detail)?
Well, your hair looks very thick and very unmanageable. However, I would advise you to do the straightener first and that usually costs anywhere from ($65+) and I say that high considering your length and thickness. A cut usually runs ($13+) depending on where you go. and some places have up to 5 foils for a pretty decent price (where I work it's $3.00 per foil up to 5) then it starts climbing after 6 and of course most places charge for length as well. I honestly think that you can get a relaxer put into your hair and it will be less frizzy and of course all over the place. I will also say that you should wait at least 2 weeks to get your hair highlighted so you can give it time to get all the chemicals from the relaxer out of your hair. If you do it the same time there will be noticeable breakage off the red part. Also get a deep conditioning treatment done to put back the proteins that were stripped from your hair while relaxing. Do not do a vo5 treatment as they do not work(oil and water= don't mix well together). Before you do get a relaxer because it does sound like its your first time doing one, you should get a patch test done on your arm to make sure that you will not be allergic to the relaxer. And for recommended products for your hair I would advise using the Mizani thermasmooth shampoo and conditioner after your relaxer. It's honestly a great product. Good luck to you.Hair relaxer and highlight opinion? (pic included w/ detail)?
its ok . i kinda think curly hair is cute .

highlights are about 75 and up

relaxer is 50+ , depending on what kind u get

    cut - mininum of 10
The salon I work at prices range depending on the stylist. For a partial highlight and cut its about $120+. I would be careful about highlighting and then relaxing your hair. Both services combined are very damaging to your hair, and your hair could break off. But depending on what kind of relaxer you do it could be another $100-$800.
that sounds like a great idea!

that style is very cute and very in right now

u might evn want to buy a straightner because my friend

had her hair chemically relaxed and she still had to smooth

    over some kinks

also if u wnat to get highlights that arent a natural color

    like red or blue

get the washout kind to expirement then if u luv it go to ur stylist

Will my hair fall out if I used a relaxer then 4 months later use a reconstructive perm?

Depends on your hair. If it's healthy you should be ok. If your hair is fried, it might dissolve completely. Will my hair fall out if I used a relaxer then 4 months later use a reconstructive perm?
Its best to wait longer cause it damages your hair. However all of your hair will NOT fall out but it might cause some of it to fall out and be thinner. Will my hair fall out if I used a relaxer then 4 months later use a reconstructive perm?
It all depends on your hair. I can relax my hair, blow dry it, and dye it all in the same day and not a hair will fall out. it is all about elasticity.
The relaxer really needs to grow out or be cut out. After 4 months you only have approximately 1-2 inches of growth so unless you want hair that's 1-2 inches long, I suggest you let it grow out. It's two totally different chemical mixes that shouldn't mix. All of your hair might not fall out but, it will be like bubble gum and very damaged and brittle.
relaxers, perms, bleach all have the ability to destroy the integrity of your hair. im not saying its a solid yes, i dont know what your hair looks like. but major possibility is a lot of breakage, hair turning into mush then rolling off, and an altogether not so pretty look.

i would definately look into some moisture/protein treatments, and get a good trim too if your hair looks toast.

  • How can you keep your hair straight for a long time without putting a relaxer?

Even though I still get my hair relaxed I don't do it nearly as much as I use to. Maybe once every four months. I bought a Chi 1 inch flat iron and it is AMAZING! It straightens my roots and everything. Then I wrap it and in the morning my hair looks like it just got permed. I wish I had a before and after picture to show but I don't so just take my word for it and buy a CHI.How can you keep your hair straight for a long time without putting a relaxer?
the only way i can think is to not wash it... the only problem being that it gets greasy. i work at a drug store, and we sell this product called Pssst, or something like that. what it is, is a spray on shampoo that requires no water... it just absorbs the oils and stuff. id straighten your hair with a flat iron and then try a product like that. How can you keep your hair straight for a long time without putting a relaxer?
you can have straight hair w/out a relaxer, by buying a straightening iron (ceramic is the best) don't get your hair wet. And wrap it up at night. If you feel like you need to wash your hair you can try waterless shampoo ( its like a powder )
