I went to get my hair chemically straightened today and half way through the stylist asked if I was nursing ( and I am) because my hair was not taking the treatment. She told me that sometimes breastfeeding mom's hair won't take relaxers, perms or even color. How true is this or did she just not know what she was doing??Is it true that if you are nursing than your hair won't take a perm or a relaxer?
You know, I'd believe it has something to do with the hormones in your body related to the pregnancy %26amp; nursing. When I was 12 (a million years ago), before I had my first period, I begged my mom to perm my hair and our hairstylist said it wouldn't take because I hadn't had my period yet. Lo and behold, it didn't take AT ALL. I haven't tried since then (been bleaching my hair since I was 14 so I don't need to damage it any more than it is) but that would be interesting to look up. You should've asked your hairstylist why!Is it true that if you are nursing than your hair won't take a perm or a relaxer?
To be honest, Ive never heard of that. But, your body does to strange things before, during and after pregnancy! I have heard that you shouldn't do anything drastic while nursing because of the chemicals. Maybe, if she could tell u were nursing, she didn't want to risk anything but didn't want to be rude.
