Hi, I'm a mixed girl (afro-italian) and of course I have super thick and curly hair (as you know there are different types of afro hair, mine are like Erika Badu's ones) and it's been 4 years since the last time I get them relaxed.I don't do it anymore because the first month my hair were beautiful, then horrible and, after 1 year,i always noticed they all breake off and so they never grew in lenght,I periodically lost all the lenght that I relaxed. Now they're strong,my baby hair came back and don't breake anymore, exept when I use a ceramic flat iron.My problem is that I hate them, too curly, too voluminous,I have to wear them in a bun all the time and this cause me headeake, they're hard to comb and tangles too cause me headake. Now a lot of women with afro hair use to have a keratin treatment but not here in Italy, where just italian hairdressers have these products and only white women do it,so I don't know where to ask... Everybody tells after this treatment their hair are wealthy etc...Is there someone who can tell what happens after a lot of time, after a year?Hair continue growing in lenght?Or someone has noticed her hair have the same lenght than the year before,so it would mean that because of the treatment they broke off?I read everything about keratin treatment, that is better formaldeyde-free etc...I just need to know if after the keratin goes away your hair are in good condition, overall after a lot of time you used it,a year etc.My worst nightmare is to see me loosing hair next year...Thanks in advice and sorry for my bad english!Keratin Treatment:anyone has lost her hair after a year as using normal relaxers?
There are several videos on youtube of salon clients who get annual/semi annual keratin treatments and they seem to have pretty healthy hair. The affect is generally less frizz and easier straightening as the keratin builds the strength of your hair. I am definitely looking into starting a formaldehyde free keratin treatment next year in conjunction with my relaxer treatments.
