Can you slick your hair back without relaxer if you're black?

Okay, I'm a black guy and my hair isn't really that nappy, so could i possibly skip the relaxer part of slicking my hair back, and just use like, holding gel or something?

You can loosen the curl a bit by washing then conditioning it comb the conditioner through,Rinse it out,then apply gel whith soaking wet,do not towel dry, you can comb the gel through then air dry.
for slicking down the hair try ampro progel and its a dark brown color and for shine try lets jam or elasta qp glaze...slick it down when hair is wet and then tie it down with a bandana or scarf til its somewhat dry
Sure you can. black girls smooth their hair down at the temples and the forehead with some kind of gel or wax so I'm sure you can do the same thing all over..
