What does hair relaxer do?

im jusz wondering what hair relaxer does because im trying to get jheri curls outta my afroWhat does hair relaxer do?
Hair relaxer straightens your hair. Relaxer is this white-ish smelly (not too smelly) chemical that is put into your hair and stays there for about 10 minutes, only to be washed out with this special shampoo. Then, you sit under the dryer and you hair will be straighter. You see, the chemicals mixed together to make this relaxer are the chemicals that will straighten your hair.

*Note: Please don't scratch your scalp or rub your scalp much. The chemicals will burn your scalp and leave little scabs if you do. The best ways to make the relaxer not burn your scalp is to put Vaseline on it or just don't scratch it.

*Warning: (If you go to a hairstylist or have your hair relaxed by a VERY experienced person) Very rarely does the relaxer make bald spots. If it does, they're usually very little. ALSO, (THIS IS A MUST READ) You have a best bet going to a hair stylist to do this. They have the experience and the ';skills to pay the bills.'; Don't relax your hair on your own.

Here's how the relaxer works:
