So, i bought a hair relaxer last night and was wondering how to do it? also i have a perm from last summer?

i watched a couple videos on youtube and it said to separate it into four parts and do it that way, and so does the instructions but my mom said it would be okay to put it directly on the curls whereas the top bit of my head is already straight from the perm growing out, would putting the (no lye) relaxer straight on to the hair work, or do we have to continue doing it on the roots, i need an answer asap because i want it done today because school starts next week =/

I am a retired hairdresser, and I can tell you applying chemicals to already chemically treated hair can be pretty scary. Be very careful or go to a professional.
