Black person hair relaxer on white person hair?

My husband wants to relax his hair, so he came home with a hair relaxing kit with a black woman on the box. The instructions have me a little worried and confused. It says to not wash his hair for five days before doing the relaxer...ew, I don't want to apply anything to his hair if he hasn't washed it for five days. And it says all this stuff about his hair breaking easily afterwards.

Will this even work on white person hair?

Do we really have to not wash his hair for five days?

I'm 36 weeks pregnant...can I even be in the house while he's doing this?Black person hair relaxer on white person hair?
You can use a black relaxer on white hair but I would still get it done by a professional if its his first time. yes you can be in the house, congrats on the kid btw. The relaxer is temporary and has to be applied every two months so its kind of pointless uness he plans on keeping up with his hair like a girl. That means deep conditioning his hair once a week to restore the moisture he lost in the relaxing process and laying off the heating appliances like blow-dryers and flat irons.

If he is still going to follow through with this than tell him to be sure to rub oil throughout his hair before applying the relaxer to avoid over processing. If the chemical is left on for to long it can burn his scalp causing temporary and sometimes permanate hair loss. Look around at the black girls whose hair is broken off and never grows past their shoulders. Its because of the relaxer. It can do to the same to your husbands hair.

I would really advise him not to do it, I am currently growing out my relaxer now. I will never get another relaxer again. Those chemicals are harsh.Black person hair relaxer on white person hair?
No you should not do his hair while pregnant the fumes can cause birth defects. That's why pregnant women are not even supposed to let alone color their hair.

And I've have had a few black roommates, and even their irons are waaay too hot for my hair. See whites have more handsome hair, and blacks hair is kinky. That's why the relaxer with the black woman on the box is specially made for black ppls hair. And this relaxer for black hair is sooo strong it will cause hair to fall out. Does he want to look like britney spears? Make an appointment for him at a salon and make him get it professionally done. 'nough said.
';White people hair'; ? Im guessing his hair is straight ? If his hair is straight and healthy I would not use a hair relaxer. People with course and/or thick hair and CRAZY curly hair often use this to make it less ';crazy'; and its hard for them to control it. If your husband has straight hair and is having trouble controlling it, I would suggest a new gel or a pomade. Use products ! Dont use chemicals.

Since you are pregnant, You can be in the same house, Just dont do it or apply it for him, And try not to be in the same room as him when he has it on. You wouldnt need to leave the house. Open some windows and you should be fine. But if you arent comfortable or feel sick, Then go for a walk :)
If he uses a relaxer that is for African American hair, it is likely that his hair will become damaged, fried, and fall out.

You are instructed not to wash your hair at least 5 days before using the product because when you wash your hair, your pores in your scalp are open. When a person uses a relaxer after they have washed their hair, the chemicals in the relaxer is going to burn their scalp like HELL.
my professional opinion is that he should not relax his hair himself. he needs to go to a salon. relaxers are very strong chemicals and its worth finding someone licensed to do this rather then his hair breaking off or getting chemical burns. there is relaxers for Caucasian hair. i suggest rusk anti curl. call around to salons and find a place. if he does that then he wont have to wash his hair for 24 to 48 hours instead of 5 days before
Don't use the relaxer on his hair it's way to strong for him, the reason they don't want his hair washed so it won't burn his scalp. Go back to the store a buy something for white people, and don't you do it, better yet go to a salon. I'm am a hair dresser.
i would return it if i were you. my bf is black and when he read this question he thought it was kinda funny, sorry..., but he said it would probly mess your hair up and i know it's not good to go 5 days w/o washing your hair. so that's gonna have to be a no for me...
That is a definite no-no. Our hair texture is different from yours. Even as a person of African descent, I can't use certain relaxers for African hair. I use a mild relaxer, but others may use a regular or super relaxer.
Oh Brother,

yes

I don't know

at 36 weeks, your child is fully developed, but ask your ped, not a bunch of strangers who know nothing
Hair relaxer is for people of color. I would not use it because of the hair texture differences. Go back to the store!
